Nimbus Group was named one of Singapore's fastest-growing companies in 2024, joining the list of 100 companies compiled by The Straits Times and Germany-based global research firm Statista. This ranking is based on the companies’ revenue growth from 2019 to 2022.

Daniel and Michelle are co-founders of Nimbus Group, a provider of corporate and residential cleaning services. They discuss working together, establishing a business, and raising their nine-year-old daughter, Camellia.
"So when I met Michelle and when we got married, I asked her to help me out with the business (sales). We were basically directly involved in the same KPIs because I was also the founder and CEO. This meant a lot of crossfire, as I had a lot of input on what she was doing. And that didn't go so well in the sense that because, couples, when you all work together, you get more sensitive over criticisms or feedback, etc."

There are many jobs out there that would make no difference to our quality of life and society if they were suddenly gone tomorrow, but just one day where frontline blue-collar workers do not perform their work (like the clearing of trash), the impact will be keenly felt. Yet, such essential jobs are often lowly paid, due to the rampant sourcing of cheap labour that takes place in the industry.
This is why I started Nimbus, to change the perception of cleaning, and to make a difference by giving good livelihoods to workers in this industry through good service and more efficient ways of performing the work.”

Cleaning start-up makes it a point to pay higher wages: CEO
Mr Daniel Thong, 29, co-founder and chief executive of office-cleaning start-up Nimbus, readily admits that the services offered by his company "are definitely not the cheapest on the market".
But, as he shared at The Sunday Times Roundtable on wages in an age of disruption on Friday, this was the start-up's intention from the outset - to fix the "broken" cleaning industry by lifting wages for cleaners.
